Transalign I.S.M. was established in 1995 and is a division of Fluid Power N.T. an engineering and hydraulic service company with personnel specializing in industrial drive gear transmissions, laser alignment of drive couplings, flat bed, straightness and thermal growth on equipment.

Transalign has a comprehensive range of In Situ (on Site) Machining equipment and the experienced personnel to carry out on site boring, facing, milling and grinding with five line boring machines, four facing machines and four portable milling units to cover a wide range of power generation and mining equipment reclamation including 5Mw diesel generators and headframe sheave re profiling.

The equipment utilises laser and digital technology to set up and maintain accuracy for high quality refurbishing of large fixed plant.Hydraulic power units are used to power cutting heads allowing high rates of stock removal and continuos 24 hour machining operations where required.

Minera Esperanza - Chile Dowel Bore Machining

TransAlign I.S.M. crews have just completed a contract in June 2011, under ABB Switzerland, Machining Dowel Bores in the Stator Bases of 19Mw Gearless Drive Motors. This involved In Situ Machining 72 off 65mm precision Dowel holes into the stator base in a 96 hour shutdown, that is one bore every 1 hour, 20 minutes.

This was the final stage in the commissioning of 3 large Ball Mills used to produce Gold in the Atacama Desert in Northern Chile. ABB Switzerland have subsequently contracted TransAlign I.S.M. to supervise the mechanical commissioning work on SAG Mills in Val d'or in Quebec Province, Canada and Aitik, Northern Sweden.

Trunnion Machining

The dedicated personnel at TransAlign ISM have carried out several In Situ Trunnion machining jobs Australia wide. The latest project involved mobilising the heavy duty machine to the "Bronzewing" Site in Mid W.A. machining the 1500mm diameter trunnion down to a set diameter suit a specific sleeve.

In situ Circular Milling

TransAlign ISM personnel have completed the first on site refurbishment of a 84" Hydrocone top shell for ERA Ranger via Jabiru, N.T.

The project was carried out with a specifically designed Slew Facing Machine with on-board welding capability allowing the operators to pre-machine, weld build up and machine the 2.4 Metre diameter, 30o worn/fretted wear cone seat. Heating was carried out with a specially designed ring main L.P. gas system to control inter-pass temperatures.
